Vilnius University
Vilnius University 2027: Ranking, Fees, Acceptance Rate
Vilnius University, Lithuania · 2027 intake · Pakistani students Last updated: 26 October 2026

Vilnius University was founded in 1579, and more than four centuries later it is still the first name in Lithuanian higher education. For a Pakistani applicant, though, its age is not the real question. The real question is whether your file clears three checks before you pay a €100 application fee that is never refunded.

That is what makes Vilnius University (VU Vilnius) different from many other options. It publishes a clear marks rule for Pakistan, a fixed English requirement and one application window a year. If you plan to study in Lithuania, that clarity lets you decide early. If you want to study in Lithuania from Pakistan with a realistic plan, this guide covers the Vilnius University ranking, the campus, the acceptance rate question, how to apply online, Pakistan-specific requirements, English scores and fees, with every figure taken from the university’s own pages.

At Vilnius University, three checks decide a Pakistani file before anything else: marks of 75% or higher, documents with every attestation stamp and an application in before 1 May.

30-second self-check

  • Are my total marks 75% or higher (bachelor’s), or is my CGPA 3.00 or 75% (master’s)?
  • Can I show IELTS 6.5 or another approved score, or did I study in English?
  • Can I finish document attestation and apply before 1 May 2027?

If you can answer yes to all three, keep reading. If not, the sections below show you exactly what to fix first.

Vilnius University Campus: Where You Will Study

Vilnius University has no single fenced campus. Its home is the historic ensemble in the Old Town of Vilnius (3 Universiteto St.), and its science facilities are in the Saulėtekis area. Check your programme page for your location.

Location

Where is Vilnius? Lithuania’s capital, with a UNESCO Old Town as your campus

Vilnius sits in the south-east of Lithuania, and VU has taught in its medieval Old Town since 1579. UNESCO lists the Old Town as a World Heritage Site, and it is one of the largest medieval old towns that survive in Northern Europe. The airport is only about 5 km from the city centre, and buses link you to neighbouring capitals.

Pakistani Students in Lithuania: Halal Meals, Faith Life and Work Rights Before You Land

Here is the surprise: Pakistani students are still a rare sight in Lithuania. Official estimates put the whole Pakistani community at around 250 people, with more than 190 of them students, so you will study among an international crowd, not a large Pakistani one.

Pakistanis in Lithuania~250More than 190 of them are students.
International students, all of Lithuania11,000+Ukraine, Belarus and India send the most.
Foreign students in Vilnius, 2024/255,900Up from 3,600 in 2022/23.

Is Lithuania friendly to Muslims?

More than you might expect, with one catch. Muslims have lived here since the 14th century, when the Lipka Tatars arrived, and their wooden mosques still stand at Nemėžis and Keturiasdešimt Totorių near Vilnius, at Raižiai and in Kaunas. The catch is that the community is small, and Vilnius city itself still has no mosque.

In your favour

  • Freedom of religion, and a Muslim community with roots going back centuries.
  • Mosques in the Vilnius district and in Kaunas.
  • An international student crowd that is used to different backgrounds.

Plan for

  • No mosque inside Vilnius city, so confirm Friday prayer places and times with the community before you arrive.
  • A small Pakistani community, so build your network early.
  • Halal food that needs planning (below).

Halal Food in Vilnius: A Practical Guide

Good news first: you will not go hungry. Lithuania has no large halal industry, so most supermarket and restaurant meat is not halal-slaughtered, but Vilnius gives you enough choice once you know where to look.

Easy everyday basicsFish, dairy, eggs, vegetablesStocked in every Lithuanian supermarket, so a simple halal-friendly kitchen is easy to build.
Where to eat outTurkish and Middle Eastern placesKebab shops and a few Indian restaurants offer halal chicken. Always confirm before you order.
What to look forA halal labelHalal products in Lithuania often carry Polish halal certification. Read the pack and ask the seller.
Pro tip: build your halal list in week one

Ask senior Muslim and international students which shops and restaurants they trust near your accommodation, then save them on your map. One shared list saves you time every single week.

Can you work while studying?

Your levelWork rights with a student residence permit
Bachelor’sUp to 20 hours a week in term, and full-time in summer vacation, during internships and for 3 months after graduation
Master’sFull-time work allowed during studies
After graduatingA 12-month residence permit for job search or self-employment
Pro tip: arrive on the right permit

If you enter on a national visa (D), you cannot work until you hold the temporary residence permit. Also start your career plan early: only about 5 to 7 percent of foreign graduates stay and build a career in Lithuania, so internships, some Lithuanian and local contacts matter from year one.

Is Vilnius University easy to get into?

Clear rather than easy. VU publishes no acceptance rate, but its rules are fixed: 75% marks for bachelor’s applicants, attested documents, approved English proof and one application window. A file that ticks all four gets assessed like any other, which is why you should check them before you pay the fee. The details are in the next section.

Vilnius University Acceptance Rate for Pakistani Students

Vilnius University does not publish one headline acceptance rate, because every programme decides on fixed, published criteria. What it does publish is how many students it admits and how a file is judged.

Our estimate for Pakistani students

In our experience at Global Migration Advisors, Pakistani applicants whose files meet the criteria receive offers roughly 60% to 75% of the time. This is our own estimate from the files we handle, not a figure published by VU. It applies to complete, eligible files: marks at 75% or above, approved English proof and attested documents.

2024 admissions round7,657students admitted, counted on 1 October 2025.
By level4,265 + 1,964admitted to bachelor’s and master’s studies.
Foreign students3,424at VU, of whom 2,859 study full-time.

Your documents are checked for academic recognition, the programme may assess your motivation (some add an entrance exam, such as Medicine for non-EU applicants), and you receive the final decision within 30 working days of a complete application. You can list up to three programmes in one application for one fee, so use all three slots.

Vilnius University Requirements for Pakistani Students

Vilnius University publishes country-specific marks rules, and Pakistan has its own line. This is the part to check against your result card before anything else.

75%minimum total marks
  1. IBCC attestation firstThe Inter Board Committee of Chairmen attests your SSC and HSSC certificates and statements of marks.
  2. MOFA attestation lastThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs then attests the same IBCC-attested documents.
  3. Upload at apply.vu.ltSubmit each document as one merged scan, preferably a PDF.

Documents to upload

  • Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) with statement of marks
  • Secondary School Certificate (SSC) with statement of marks
  • Passport and a motivation letter of 1,200 to 4,000 characters
  • Some programmes also require an OMPT exam, passed with at least 55%
3.00CGPA, or 75% overall
  1. HEC attestationThe Higher Education Commission attests your bachelor’s degree and academic transcript.
  2. IBCC attestationThe Inter Board Committee of Chairmen attests your SSC and HSSC certificates and statements of marks, which master’s applicants are also asked for.
  3. MOFA attestation lastThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs then attests the HEC-attested and IBCC-attested documents.
  4. Upload and send the transcriptUpload at apply.vu.lt. VU also asks for the transcript as an official certified copy sent to its Office of International Admissions, and accepts digital copies during the admissions period.

Also check before you apply

  • Keep your SSC and HSSC certificates ready with your degree, attested by IBCC and then MOFA
  • The gap between your bachelor’s degree and your application must not exceed five years, and work experience does not count towards it.
  • Some programmes require an OMPT exam result of at least 55%.
  • A 3-year bachelor’s degree does not give access to master’s programmes at VU.

Check your marks before you pay. VU accepts bachelor’s applicants from Pakistan only at 75% total marks or higher, and the application fee is not refunded if you are found ineligible. Write to admissions@cr.vu.lt if your marks are close.

Documents not in English or Lithuanian need an official translation bound to the certified copy. Scans should be one merged file, with all text on both sides, preferably as a PDF. Final graduation documents must be submitted before 20 August.

VU names IBCC (bachelor’s) or HEC (master’s) first and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs second, so follow that order. VU’s master’s page says you may be asked for secondary school records, and in our experience Pakistani master’s applicants are asked for IBCC-attested SSC and HSSC documents too.
