Picture a university where your admission interview does not end with a handshake. It ends with you showing an examiner, on camera, how you would massage a patient’s shoulder. That is not a horror story. For a Physiotherapy applicant at Lithuanian Sports University, it can be a normal interview day.
Most guides to study in Lithuania treat every university the same. LSU does not. Its admission process rewards students who can show what they are applying to study, not only describe it. Here are the programmes, fees, documents and interview in plain steps.
LSU does not only ask “can you talk about physiotherapy?” It asks “can you do it, right now, while we watch?”
LSU University Lithuania is a small public university in Kaunas, founded in 1934. Admission is moderate: half your score comes from marks and half from a motivational interview.
What Is LSU University Lithuania (Lithuanian Sports University), and Why Do Pakistani Students Consider It?
LSU sits at Sporto g. 6 in Kaunas. It is not a general university with a sports department added on: sport, health and tourism management are its whole identity. That specialisation works in two directions.
Before you pay a single euro, look at where Pakistani students actually get in. The €200 application fee is non-refundable, so applying to the wrong programme is money gone. In the 2026/27 intake (September 2026 entry), around 25 Pakistani applicants were accepted into Sports and Tourism Management at Lithuanian Sports University, and around 7 into Physical Activity and Public Health. Tourism was the biggest door in and public health a steady second, so the smart move is to check the acceptance picture for your programme first, not only the fee.
What you gain
- Focused teaching in one field.
- Smaller classes than a general university.
What to expect
- A generic “I want to study in Europe” application will not stand out.
- Every programme is built around practical skill.
Where Is LSU? Location, Getting There and Life in Kaunas
LSU University Lithuania is in Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city, about 100 km north-west of Vilnius. Plan your flights around Kaunas, not the capital.
- Main airport
- Most flights land at Vilnius (VNO), then a train or coach goes to Kaunas.
- Vilnius to Kaunas
- A direct train takes about 1.5 hours; coaches take 1.5 to 2 hours.
- To the campus
- From Kaunas railway station, take trolleybus No. 4 or buses 3, 34, 38 or 43 to the Sporto stop.

Add the €200 application fee (about PKR 63,000) and housing; the €1,000 deposit is deducted from tuition. A Physiotherapy bachelor’s student in the on-campus dormitory pays €4,576 tuition, €200 application fee and €1,400 for housing: €6,176, about PKR 1,952,000, plus a €280 housing deposit.
Admission Requirements: The Document Chain You Cannot Skip
LSU does not accept educational documents without an apostille or legalisation. Because Pakistan is a Hague Convention member, your documents need an apostille, and LSU prefers an electronic apostille. Attest them in Pakistan first, then get the MOFA apostille. LSU also needs an English translation made by a certified translator and certified by a notary. This chain is where most delays happen. Choose your route below.
LSU asks Pakistani bachelor’s applicants for the originals of four documents: your HSSC (Intermediate) certificate and statement of marks, and your SSC (Matric) certificate and statement of marks, each attested by IBCC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In our experience, a document attested out of sequence is a common reason for a file to be sent back. A Diploma of Associate Engineer is accepted only for programmes related to that qualification, such as sports, management, physical education or health sciences.
Your degree documents
Your school documents (Matric and Inter)
LSU’s published list for Pakistani master’s applicants names two documents: the Diploma (honours) and the full academic transcript, each attested by the Higher Education Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In our experience, master’s applicants should also keep their Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) certificates and statements of marks ready, verified by your education board, then attested by IBCC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, because the admissions team can ask for them while assessing your file. Ask the admissions office in writing exactly which documents your file needs before you pay for any attestation. LSU also asks master’s applicants for evidence of research participation, copies of published articles and conference information.
Attestation takes weeks, not days, so start as soon as you decide on LSU. Upload scans made from your original documents: full size, in colour and fully legible, because LSU disregards scans that do not meet these requirements. Also make sure your application fee payment carries your own name, because LSU does not accept payments without the applicant’s name.
English Test and Grade Requirements
LSU asks for B2-level English, for example IELTS Academic 6.0, and an overall CGPA of at least 65%. These scores are from LSU’s 2027–2028 admission requirements. Source: LSU general admission requirements.
| Accepted English test | Minimum |
|---|---|
| IELTS Academic | 6.0 |
| TOEFL iBT | 72 (0–120 scale) |
| Pearson PTE Academic | 50 (preferred 55) |
| Cambridge English | 160 |
| LanguageCert International ESOL | B2 (Pass) or higher |
| Duolingo English Test | 90 (preferred 100) |
| LSU Preparatory English Language Course | B2, successfully completed |
You must meet LSU’s grade rule before you are ranked. The rule is different for each level.
Bachelor’s applicants
- At least 65% in your SSC (Matric) exam and at least 65% in your HSSC (Intermediate) exam.
- An overall CGPA of at least 65%.
Master’s applicants
- An overall CGPA of at least 65% on your bachelor’s transcript.
Your transcript
- It must list all your subjects with their full names.
- It must show your grades, and the credits and/or hours for each subject.
Your passport
- It must be valid for at least 2 years from the date you submit your application.
- It must not be replaced or changed during the admission process.
Is It Easy or Difficult to Get Into LSU?
Short answer: moderate. To get into LSU University Lithuania, you must first meet LSU’s eligibility rule, and after that your application is ranked on a score split evenly between your marks and your interview.
Once you pass the eligibility rule above, your competitive score is half your marks and half your interview, according to LSU’s 2025 admission rules. For a bachelor’s, the marks part is the average of your secondary certificate subjects. For a master’s, it is the modules in your bachelor’s diploma supplement. The interview score is given by LSU’s admissions board. Confirm the 2027 weights with the admissions office.
Why it is not very hard
- English is needed at B2 level, for example IELTS Academic 6.0.
- There is no written entrance exam.
Why it is still competitive
- Half of your score depends on the interview.
- A group opens only if enough students enrol.
It carries the same weight as your marks, so prepare for it like an exam.
Where Pakistani Students Got In: The 2026 Intake
These numbers come from the 2026/27 intake, which has already started (September 2026 entry). They are not figures for the September 2027 intake that the rest of this guide covers. They show which programmes Pakistani students actually got into.
Tourism was the biggest route in for Pakistani students in that intake, with Public Health a smaller but steady second. Physiotherapy applicants were the exception: applicants commonly reported being asked to demonstrate a basic exercise or a simple massage technique.
The Physiotherapy Interview: What Candidates Actually Face
Based on what recent applicants have reported, candidates are asked two kinds of things.
- Why you chose physiotherapy
- Your academic background
- Your plans after the degree
- A basic exercise or movement
- A simple stretch
- A basic massage technique, for example on the shoulder
Practise a simple stretch or a shoulder massage on a friend or family member before your interview. Students who do this usually feel calmer on the day.
Is LSU the Right Fit for You?
LSU is not right for every student who wants to study in Europe. Use this quick check before you spend money on applications.
LSU suits you if
- You already know you want sport science, physiotherapy, tourism management or public health.
- You are ready to show your skills, not only describe them.
Compare other options if
- You are still undecided about your subject.
- You are not comfortable with a practical interview.
Deadlines, Deposit and Refunds
These are LSU’s published 2027–2028 admission dates, covering applications from November 2026 to July 2027 for the September 2027 intake. Applying early leaves more room to fix any document problem. Source: LSU admission deadlines.
| Stage | Standard route | Double legalisation / IMPAS |
|---|---|---|
| Application | 3 Nov 2026 – 3 May 2027 | 3 Nov 2026 – 1 Apr 2027 |
| Extra documents | until 30 Jun 2027 | until 30 May 2027 |
| Interviews | 7 Dec 2026 – 30 Jun 2027 | 7 Dec 2026 – 30 May 2027 |
| Acceptance letters | 4 Jan – 15 Jul 2027 | 4 Jan – 15 Jun 2027 |
Standard route: most Pakistani students
- Pakistan has been part of the Apostille Convention since March 2023.
- Your documents get a MOFA apostille, so you follow the first column.
Second column: only in two cases
- LSU tells you a document cannot be apostilled and needs double legalisation.
- You apply for the International Master in Performance Analysis of Sport (IMPAS).
Double legalisation means the document is legalised first in the country that issued it, and then by that country’s embassy. Classes for first-year students start on 1 October.
Here is exactly how the money moves. You pay a non-refundable application fee of €200 (about PKR 63,000), and a €1,000 deposit (about PKR 316,000) that is deducted from your tuition. As a non-EU student, you must then pay your full first-year tuition in one payment, with no instalments, before LSU issues the documents for your residence permit. If the permit is not received by 1 October, LSU refunds your tuition in full. If it is refused in any other situation, you get your tuition back minus the €1,000 deposit. In both cases LSU asks for documentary proof of the refusal, and it does not cover bank charges or exchange-rate losses. Once a permit is issued, tuition is non-refundable under any circumstances, even if you withdraw. Source: LSU official tuition fee page.
Visa and Residence Permit for Pakistani Students
Since 1 July 2023, Lithuania’s Migration Department no longer issues a national (D) visa to full-time degree students. A bachelor’s or master’s student from Pakistan applies for a temporary residence permit (TRP) on the basis of studies instead. The national visa now applies to exchange students, not to degree students, so do not apply for a D visa for LSU.
- Get your mediation letter numberLSU’s Studies Department issues it.
- Apply for the TRP through MIGRISThe online application is made on the Migration Department’s portal, migracija.lt.
- Give your biometrics at VFS GlobalSubmit them at the external VFS Global office.
- Wait for the decisionThe Migration Department decides, usually within 1 to 3 months, and the permit card is then issued.
The Migration Department’s own announcement says there are no more waiting visas. Rules and processing times change, so check the current steps on migracija.lt and with LSU before you travel.
LSU will not issue permit documents until your tuition is paid in full. Our guide to Lithuania student visa rejection reasons shows what to double-check. Health insurance valid in Lithuania is also required.
Where You Will Live and What It Costs
LSU has two dormitories with limited places, so apply as soon as you hold your acceptance letter. You pay the full semester upfront, plus a two-month deposit.

The campus sits next to the Oak Grove, a modern stadium and the Sports Hall, with free access to the swimming pool and fitness room. International students can work part-time, but many jobs need some Lithuanian, so do not count on a job in your first months.
