Paying tuition before your visa is approved is the scariest moment of any application. Now imagine the opposite: English-taught degrees at €3,250 a year, a small campus on the Baltic coast, and a full tuition refund if your visa is rejected. That is Klaipėda University, and it is the quiet card in the study in Lithuania deck that almost nobody plays.
There is a catch, and it is a ticking one. Spring 2027 applications close on 1 November 2026, and attestation alone can swallow weeks. So here is everything in one place: what you pay, what you study, what you need and how to get your visa. Read on, because the next few weeks decide your intake.
Is Klaipėda University Right for You?
The 60-second verdict: choose KU if you want an affordable, English-taught Lithuanian degree in a smaller coastal city, especially in management, social work or health care management. Choose a bigger-city university if you want the widest course catalogue. KU refunds your tuition in full if your visa is rejected, which matters when the money is sent from Pakistan.
Founded in 1991 to serve western Lithuania and the Baltic region, KU is a member of EU-CONEXUS, an alliance of coastal-city universities. It welcomes about 200 new international students a year, so you join a small, personal community and not a crowd. Applications run online at apply.ku.lt, and the admission procedure is published step by step on KU’s website.
How hard is admission, and how many seats are there?
Be realistic: admission at KU is competitive, and a place is never guaranteed. KU says about 200 international students join each year, and around 480 are enrolled in total, so seats are limited across every programme and every nationality. KU does not publish a separate quota or acceptance rate for Pakistani applicants. Pakistan is, however, among the largest source countries for international students in Lithuania, and Lithuanian authorities are watching study-permit applications more closely, so a weak or inconsistent file stands out quickly.
What helps most is a complete file submitted early, attested documents, a clear motivation letter and a confident interview. Our Klaipėda University interview guide covers the questions to prepare.
Klaipėda is a port city with sea air and a calmer pace than the capital. The trade-off is fewer big-city job options, so do not build your budget around part-time income.
English-Taught Programmes and Fees at a Glance
KU offers five English-taught programmes to international applicants: two bachelor’s and three master’s. For Spring 2027, all five programmes show a 1 November 2026 deadline on the portal. Seats are limited, and KU publishes no official acceptance rate, so the acceptance rate of Klaipėda University depends on your programme, your profile and how early you apply.

Five Programmes, Five Career Paths
Run teams or start a business. Graduates become personnel, finance, production and marketing managers.
Social work plus crisis intervention. Graduates work in social services, NGOs and hospitals.
Strategy, leadership and sustainable business, ending in a thesis. Expect an interview and a motivation letter.
Governing regions, including EU regional policy. Needs a humanities or social sciences bachelor’s.
Manage healthcare organisations, from city health departments to the Ministry of Health.
Can You Get In? Entry Requirements
The good news: KU’s bar is clear, and you can check yourself against it in five minutes. For a bachelor’s you need a senior high school diploma with a CGPA above 60%, and for a master’s you need a bachelor’s degree (Regional Governance wants humanities or social sciences). You also need B2 English, which means IELTS above 5.5, TOEFL above 75, Duolingo above 110 or PTE above 59. Then comes the human part: a motivation letter and a short interview with a Studies Office employee or a KU representative.
Master’s Applicants: Do You Need an Internship Before You Apply?
Many Pakistani students worry about this one, and the answer is more relaxed than you might expect. For Business Management and Health Care Management, KU lists no internship and no work experience at all. A bachelor’s degree with a CGPA above 60%, B2 English, a motivation letter and an interview are enough to apply. The exception is a programme like Public Health Education, which asks for two years of related work experience if your bachelor’s is in another field. So the rule is simple: read your own programme page before you plan anything.
The thesis, on the other hand, is not optional, but it comes after you arrive. Business Management includes a Research Project and a Master’s Final Thesis, so you will research, write and defend one during your degree, not before applying. Still, a related internship or project is worth mentioning, because it gives your motivation letter and your interview answers something real to stand on.
That said, an internship, work experience or academic project related to your chosen programme can make your motivation letter and interview answers far more convincing. Regional Governance also needs a humanities or social sciences bachelor’s, so check the page of your exact programme before you apply.
The trap is paperwork, not grades. In Pakistan your documents travel through a chain before KU ever sees them: your board or university verifies them first, IBCC attests matric and intermediate certificates, HEC attests your degrees, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs completes the process. KU asks for an apostille from the issuing country’s foreign ministry, and the exact steps can differ by document, so confirm the chain for yours with KU before you submit. Everything must be in English or officially translated, and KU accepts final diplomas only, never provisional ones. Start early, because every other step waits on it.

Your First-Year Budget: Every Cost, Not Only Tuition
Tuition is the first line of your bill, not the last. Where KU publishes a figure, it is shown here. Where it does not, we say so, because a guessed number would hurt you more than a blank.
| Cost | What to expect | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | €3,250 to €4,690 a year | Check your programme page on apply.ku.lt |
| Application fee | €180 per application, non-refundable | Confirm eligibility before paying |
| Dormitory | From roughly €63 to €170 a month per person, depending on building and room, plus a one-time initial fee of €120 or €180 | Ask admission@ku.lt for the current schedule |
| Health insurance | A policy with a €30,000 sum insured is required for the residence permit application | Confirm the accepted policy with KU before buying |
| Visa fee | €160 | Paid when you submit your visa or TRP application |
| VFS service fee | €30 to €120 depending on the country | Check the current fee when you book biometrics |
| Food, transport, phone | KU does not publish one monthly figure | Ask admissions for a realistic range |
Both KU dormitories are open to international students, and rooms can be kept over the summer. Ask admissions how and when to request a place, because timing can differ by intake.
Apply in Six Steps: From Portal to Letter of Acceptance
The route to study in Lithuania from Pakistan through KU follows the procedure on KU’s official admission page, and you can complete the first half online.
- Apply on KU’s portalGo to apply.ku.lt, complete the form and upload your documents.
- Upload your documentsPassport, education documents and English proof. Start attestation early, because it takes the longest in Pakistan.
- Pay the €180 application feeIt is non-refundable, so check your eligibility first.
- Wait for the academic commissionOn a positive decision, KU issues a conditional letter and holds an online interview.
- Pay the tuition feeKU then issues your Letter of Acceptance and prepares your embassy documents.
- Apply for the visa or TRPIf it is issued, KU welcomes you to Klaipėda. If it is rejected, your tuition is refunded in full.
The KU online interview
Every applicant is interviewed by a Studies Office employee or a KU representative, and the questions are not published. Prepare the usual ones: tell me about yourself, why this programme, why Klaipėda and what you plan after graduation. If you are applying for management, our Klaipėda University BSc Management interview questions show you what to rehearse. Your dates and grades must match your documents exactly. For a full list of questions, sample answers and common mistakes, read our Klaipėda University interview guide.
Interview tip: speak in short, clear sentences, and say “let me think for a moment” if you need time. A calm, honest answer beats a long, memorised one. Check your internet, camera and microphone beforehand, and sit somewhere quiet and well lit.
Deadlines you must not miss
Spring 2027 closes on 1 November 2026 at 23:59 Eastern European Time, with studies starting on 1 February 2027. Aim to submit two to three weeks early, not on the day.
| Intake | Application window | TRP biometrics deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn | 1 January to 1 June | 18 July |
| Spring | 1 September to 1 November | 15 December |
Close to the deadline? Here is how to beat the clock
A few weeks is tighter than it sounds, because attestation is the step that decides everything. Start the apostille first, since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs now asks for online registration before it processes requests, then lock in an accepted English score and write a motivation letter that explains why this programme and why Klaipėda. Upload, pay and submit with a margin before 23:59 on 1 November. And if the documents simply cannot be ready, a rushed file is a bigger risk than waiting for the autumn window, which opens on 1 January.
Lithuania Residence Permit (TRP) and Visa from Pakistan
Once KU issues your Letter of Acceptance, full-time students arrange their stay through a temporary residence permit (TRP). The form is filled in online through MIGRIS, Lithuania’s migration system, and you then give biometrics at a VFS Global application centre, where your MIGRIS application number is needed to book. For spring applicants, KU lists 15 December as the biometrics deadline, so plan the appointment early.
Rules are tightening, so do not rely on old advice. From 1 November 2026, a TRP application can only be filed by someone with a valid legal basis for stay in Lithuania, which means entering on another country’s short-stay Schengen visa and applying after arrival is no longer a safe plan. Before you book flights or appointments, confirm your exact route as a Pakistani applicant with KU’s admission team and the Migration Department, and read our visa guide for Pakistani applicants.
KU sends official acceptance letters only from an @ku.lt email address or through the DreamApply platform, never through Viber or WhatsApp. If a message promises a letter any other way, write to admission@ku.lt before you pay anyone.
If the Visa Fails: Your Refund Policy in Plain Language
| Payment | Refund | The detail |
|---|---|---|
| Application fee (€180) | No | Non-refundable. A bachelor’s and a master’s need two applications and two fees. |
| Tuition, if the visa is rejected | Yes, in full | KU refunds the tuition fee in full in case of visa rejection. |
| Tuition, any other reason | Not stated | Ask in writing what happens if you withdraw after a visa is issued. |

Ask before you pay: confirm in writing with admission@ku.lt how long a refund takes, who bears bank charges, and whether a refused residence permit counts the same as a visa rejection. Keep your payment receipt and any refusal decision.
Scholarships, Work and Life After Graduation
Three questions every family asks: can we get funding, can the student earn, and what happens after the degree? Here are the straight answers.
KU’s own scholarship, a 100% tuition reduction with 14 places, is only for students from Eastern Partnership countries and Kazakhstan. Pakistan is not on the list, so plan to fund your tuition yourself.
Bachelor’s years 1 and 2: up to 20 hours a week. From year 3, and in master’s: up to 40.
A 12-month permit lets you look for work or start a business. Apply on time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it hard to get admission at Klaipėda University as a Pakistani student?
It is competitive. About 200 international students join KU each year, KU publishes no acceptance rate or Pakistan-specific quota, and seats are limited. A complete, early file with attested documents, a strong motivation letter and a prepared interview gives you the best chance.
Do I need an internship, project or work experience for a KU master’s?
It depends on the programme. Business Management and Health Care Management list no internship or work experience as an entry requirement, while Public Health Education asks for a related bachelor’s or a bachelor’s in another field plus at least 2 years of relevant work experience. Always check your exact programme page on apply.ku.lt.
Is Klaipėda University good for Pakistani students?
It is a good fit if your degree matches an open English-taught programme and you value lower EU tuition in a smaller coastal city. Check the programme list, document conditions and deadlines before applying.
What are the Klaipėda University fees for international students?
Both bachelor’s programmes cost €3,250 a year, and all three master’s programmes €4,690. The application fee is €180 and non-refundable. Confirm the exact fee on your programme page.
What is the Spring 2027 deadline at Klaipėda University?
1 November 2026, 23:59 Eastern European Time, with studies starting on 1 February 2027. The spring TRP biometrics deadline is 15 December.
Does KU refund tuition if my visa is rejected?
Yes, in full. The €180 application fee is not refunded. KU does not state a refund timeline, so ask for one in writing.
What English score does KU accept?
Level B2: IELTS above 5.5, TOEFL above 75, Duolingo above 110 or PTE above 59. Only native English speakers are exempt.
Can Pakistani students get a scholarship or work while studying?
